Hello Acquinas, I hope you and your team are all well.
I thought I should share some great news with you.
Back in 2005 I started supporting Fr Paul Healy (Dalkey) as a result of a plea from him at sunday mass in cabinteely. After visiting Kitui I came back asking the parish to support educating the poor. The parish under Fr Tom and later Fr Arthur raised funds and it resulted in us helping to build St Michaels school and supply motorbikes to priests along with sending kids to school.
A girl I sponsored called Catherine Mutua is pictured here in a red t shirt I brought to her. She is outside her shamba (mud and straw hut). She was 15 and at that time told me she wanted to be a nun. I travelled to Kenya twice a year that time and now once a year and every time she would tell me she wanted to be a nun. I put her through university and she became a teacher. When she was qualified I was involved in (still am) the Holy Ghost School Machakos and got her a job as a teacher. She later became the school principal. She earned enough money to educate her siblings.
On march 25th she will be professed a nun into the Loreto order Nairobi.
I am flying out to be with her.
Most of the kids we sponsored did very well, some teachers, two engineers and a doctor. I will also go to Kitui again as I still sponsor two kids there and I know the bishop well as he was a priest back in 2005.
The difference the parish made to Kitui is incredible and I would like people to know this and be thanked.
We changed peoples lives for the better.
Regards
Aidan Corless
